Sigulda Robot CUP 2018

Aim of the event

1. To encourage pupils and young people in engineering and robotics.

2. To develop pupils and young people technical knowledge and skills.

3. To evaluate pupils and young people skills in technical creation.

4. To promote robotics and mechatronics education .

Competition will take place on 24th of February!

Competition DIsciplines:

Competition disciplines are divided into two categories LEGO robots and Free construction electronics robots.

Disciplines in LEGO group:

1) LEGO Sumo

2) LEGO Folkrace

3) LEGO Linefollowing

4) LEGO Linelabyrinth

Disciplines in Free construction electronic robots:

1) MINI Sumo

2) Folkrace

3) Linefollowing

4) iRobot Sumo

5) Linelabyrinth

6) Folkrace PLUSS

7) VEX challenge

8) Mini drone challenge

9) MAKEblock challenge

10) Freestyle

PARTICIPANTS

Participants are different students from technical youth clubs and robotics enthusiasts which are divided into three age groups:

1) 1.-6. grade students (14 years and younger),

2) 7.-12. grade students (15-19 years),

3) students and amateurs.

If any of disciplines in any age groups will have small number of participants, then competition will be in mixed age groups. Precise age group division in each discipline will be announced on 23rd of February after registration.

Additionally to classic robotics disciplines, this year there are 5 new disciplines:

Linelabyrinth – combining linefollowing and labyrinth disciplines LEGO or free construction electronics robot must finish track as fast as possible. Robot starts competition in green square and following black line labyrinth finish race on red square.

Folkrace PLUSS – robots compete in an obstacle track. Difference to classic Folkrace track this contains different flooring (can be sand, rock, water, etc.) and static or movable obstacles (tennis balls, movable boxes, etc.).

VEX Challenge – robot competition using VEX IQ robots, participants doesn’t need their robot! They compete as for best pilot title.

Mini drone challenge – figural flight with all king of radio drones/quadcopters, which weight does not exceed 200g.

MAKEblock challenge –Makeblock mBot V1.1 robot must complete an obstacle course as quickly as possible, while following the track line from start to finish.
